The 1967 film In the Heat of the Night, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, is one of my favorite films, one of two nearly perfect films Sidney Poitier made in that decade (the other being Lilies of the Field).
Here are some of the other films that came out in the amazing film year of 1967 (most of which I was of course too young to see).
Hombre, Belle de Jour, Barefoot in the Park, To Sir, with Love, The Dirty Dozen, Far from the Madding Crowd, The Whisperers, Two for the Road, Camelot, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Wait Until Dark, The Flim-Flam Man, The Comedians, The Taming of the Shrew, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Cool Hand Luke, The Producers, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, In Cold Blood, Doctor Dolittle, The Graduate.
And of course, the unforgettable Monkeys, Go Home!
